Based on studies from the EU Intellectual Property Office, it has been determined that the level of music piracy in Europe is declining.
49% of those surveyed between the ages of 15 and 24 have been using pirated material in the last year. For comparison, in 2016 this figure was 60%.
Interestingly, pirated music is less frequently used than video - 39 percent and 79 percent, respectively.
It has also been found that the level of use of illegal materials is proportional to the country's poverty rate. For example, in Germany and the UK this figure is only 13% and 14% respectively, and in Lithuania, one of the poorest EU countries, 45%.
